Families,

This is a follow up message to the email I shared with you yesterday afternoon.

I’m writing to provide clarification after receiving questions from some members of our school community.

This week, we responded to an isolated incident involving a few students. We have been working with students and their families to build understanding and to ensure the social and emotional well-being of all students in our school. I have heard some believe the incident resulted in a widespread ban.

I assure you that there are no bans on what students choose to wear to school.

I want to reiterate that students at Park West are always welcome to express themselves in ways that maintain safety, dignity and respect for themselves, their classmates, and their cultures. Ensuring inclusive learning spaces for all is our highest priority.

I recognize that the situation that evolved this week has caused harm.

I sincerely apologize for the distress this has caused students, families, and our wider community.
