"HRM will be debating the transfer of the wooded area behind PWS to the province for construction of a new school on Tues Feb 7th. This new school would be for students from our area, as well as Fairview and Rockingham, to alleviate overcrowding in all three communities. The school was promised in 2018 for Fairview/Clayton Park and has not proceeded due to the lack of available sites for such a school. If this transfer does not proceed, the other option for the new school is in Bayers Lake. A new school behind PWS would enable us to have a campus model with a shared field, community playground and other shared spaces, and a walking school rather than the bussing that would be required for Bayers Lake. The SAC supports the transfer of the wooded area to the province for construction of a new school.
