Planning for next year

As we begin looking ahead to the next school year, we are already engaged in thoughtful planning to ensure a smooth and successful transition for all students. This includes organizing classes, reviewing student needs, and preparing for another year of learning and growth at Park West.

We will also share that Ms. Anyanwu will be returning from her deferred leave for the upcoming school year. We look forward to welcoming her back to the Park West community.

On a personal note, it has truly been a pleasure to be welcomed into Park West this year. I am grateful for the support, kindness, and strong sense of community that makes this such a special place for students, staff, and families.

Thank you for your continued partnership as we plan for another great year ahead.

Provincial Assessments

Between May 11 and June 5th, our Grade 3 and 8 students will participate in provincial assessments. These include two days focused on literacy and two days focused on mathematics.

The provincial assessment helps us better understand how students are doing in reading, writing, and mathematics. The learning students have received so far in school has prepared them for this assessment—no special preparation is required at home. Families can best support their child by ensuring they are well-rested, encouraged to do their best, and present at school each day.

It’s important to note that this assessment does not affect student grades. Instead, the information gathered is used in several ways:

  • To help teachers support classroom instruction.
  • To guide decisions at the school, regional, and provincial levels.
  • To provide additional support where needed.

Temporary Trail Closure

Work on the access road is planned to begin on Monday, April 27, and we are advised this phase will not require a trail closure.

The Halifax Water work, which will require a trail closure, is currently scheduled to begin on May 4 and is expected to last approximately six weeks. We have attached a temporary closure map or your reference.
