Last Day of School

As directed by HRCE, students will be dismissed four hours earlier than their regular dismissal time on the last day of school. For Park West School, this means students will be dismissed at 10:25 a.m.

Please ensure that arrangements are made for your child at this earlier dismissal time.

Students will also be bringing home all personal belongings from their classrooms. We encourage families to check backpacks and ensure that all items are taken home on the last day.

As we close another successful school year, we would also like to recognize several staff members who are moving on to new opportunities, new roles, or retirement. Their contributions to our school community have made a lasting impact, and we wish them every success in their next adventures.

Please join us in congratulating:

  • Rachael Webster, who will be joining Elizabeth Sutherland School as Principal.
  • Robinah Ssebazza, who is retiring after her dedicated service to students and families.
  • Gary Shupe, who is retiring and beginning a well-deserved new chapter.
  • Kayla Scott, who will be joining Saint Mary's Elementary School.
  • Kevin Morley and Teresa Bijoy, who will be moving to positions at Clayton Park Junior High School.
  • Jen Parsons, who will be joining Harry R. Hamilton School.
  • Sandra Gidak, who has accepted a new SLP circuit serving Duc d'Anville and other schools.
  • Ainsley Fraser, who will be exploring new professional opportunities.
  • Nina Amar, Hira Zuberi, Steve Perry, and Ruchika Ruchika, who will continue supporting schools throughout HRCE as substitute teachers.
  • Carolyn Landry, who will be continuing her work at Fairview Heights Elementary School.

We are incredibly grateful for the dedication, care, and commitment these staff members have shown to our students and school community. While they will be missed, we are excited for the opportunities that lie ahead for each of them.

Thank you for your continued support throughout the school year. We wish all of our students, families, and staff a safe, relaxing, and enjoyable summer break.

Grade 9 Closing

We are excited for the grade 9 closing this Friday.  Families, there is no parking on school grounds so please park safely on the main road in permitted areas or side streets.  Students are welcome to arrive for 9:30 when we will have a group picture taken ahead of the closing at 10 am.  The closing should take a little over an hour.  While we do not send home tickets, we ask families to be mindful of our space constraints and bring immediate family only.

Grade 6-8 Awards

We will also be having our grade 6-8 academic and sports awards in the afternoon on the 26th.  This is for students only.

Save the Date – School Open House

We are excited to once again host our School Open House on Tuesday, September 2!

Our Open House is a wonderful opportunity for students and families to:

  • Find and visit their classroom
  • Meet their teacher(s)
  • Drop off school supplies
  • Become familiar with the school before the first day

Our Open House this school year was a tremendous success, and we received wonderful feedback from families and staff. Providing students with the chance to see their classroom and make those first connections ahead of time helps ease first-day jitters and creates a smoother, more positive start to the school year for everyone.

Note to incoming primary students – Thursday the 4th and Friday the 5th will be used to confirm class placements and be used as welcome to primary days.

We encourage all families who can attend and look forward to welcoming you to the school. Additional details, including the event time, will be shared closer to the date.
