Between October 6–17, our Grade 6 students will participate in provincial assessments. These include two days focused on literacy and two days focused on mathematics.
The Grade 6 provincial assessment helps us better understand how students are doing in reading, writing, and mathematics. The learning students have received so far in school has prepared them for this assessment—no special preparation is required at home. Families can best support their child by ensuring they are well-rested, encouraged to do their best, and present at school each day.
It’s important to note that this assessment does not affect student grades. Instead, the information gathered is used in several ways:
- To help teachers support classroom instruction.
- To guide decisions at the school, regional, and provincial levels.
- To provide additional support where needed.
